Illinois has experienced a tremendous increase in international investment growth in recent years. Countries like Britain, Japan, Germany and China were among those most invested in Illinois In 2023, this sum was greater than USD $13.2 billion across agricultural, manufacturing, and other areas in Illinois alone.

Governor JB Pritzker and Flender Corporation recently announced they have expanded their manufacturing facility in Elgin, creating 50 full-time jobs while keeping the 140 full-time jobs they have currently.

The Illinois Small Business Development Center located at Southern Illinois University is funded partly through a cooperative agreement between U.S. Small Business Administration, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Southern Illinois University. The Center assists local entrepreneurs with assistance in creating or expanding their businesses by offering services like free business planning workshops, one-on-one counseling sessions with experienced Business Advisors and access financing options.

State leaders in Indiana are pushing employers to offer better salaries and benefits as a method of keeping child care workers in the country as they face a shortage of job. The decision comes after the closure of a care facility in Bronzeville which was struggling to retain employees.

Illinois Department of Labor also launched an online tool designed to inform small-scale businesses about labor laws. Employers can search by keyword or browse categories on the site, and connect to appropriate state agencies and other resources.

Illinois Business Development Authority (IBDA) is taking action to increase awareness about Illinois' tax incentives for expanding businesses by hosting the IBDA's webinar this week on the subject. The webinar was recorded and will be archived on their website.
