Carpet detection automatically increases power when it detects carpets, and the dual side brush helps to remove debris from corners.

The mopping performance, though still impressive, isn't as impressive. The mop rotates quickly and makes use of 2.2lbs to remove dirt and stain. I've also noticed that the front arms protrude out slightly more than other robots, which is useful to maneuver around tight corners and on baseboards. The front arms can also be used to collect larger objects like broken toys and books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've tested. The base also has a number of control buttons that allow you to start a cleaning task and then recall the robot or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Hold down two buttons to toggle a child lock which is a great touch for parents worried about kids tinkering with the vacuum.

The Omni Omni, like other robotic vacuums uses its camera to detect obstacles and furniture that are in its path. It will avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

The X1 can be prone to become stuck if it is entangled in an obstacle, such as the power cable that is draped over a rug. It won't function until you manually untangle it. This is a rare event however it was frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert in its application.

The X1 Omni is unable to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during cleaning. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad, except that mopping pads don't get cleaned or dried between uses. This can lead to mildew and mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame), who created its sleek modern base and mopping pad. It's a significant contrast to the basic black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. And it's an excellent choice for the market that is dominated by boxy units.
