WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.

This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to use them properly. It's best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
