The Fox 5 is an all-terrain stroller that is ideal for parents who love to go off-road. It has a suspension that is impressive and has large wheels that are puncture-proof.

Our tester Claire was impressed by the neat packaging that was easy to open and thought it was one of the fastest and most simple pieces of baby gear to put together. She took it out to explore some rough terrain and was thrilled with its performance.

Seats

The majority of triple buggies are initially single pushchairs, but some can be converted to take an additional seat or carrycot by converting adapters (these are usually more common in tandem buggies). You'll also see that some models allow you to add a ride-on board for older children who wish to walk but still need a little help.

Check out the Joie Evalite Duo for an ultra-lightweight option that is perfect for urban streets. It's easy to move and has an enormous basket that has plenty of storage. It can be used to accommodate twins from birth and will accommodate two car seats as well as an infant carrycot and seat. The seats have to face forward and there is no room to store an item under the seat. You will need a sidepack.

Mountain Buggy Duet will be the best choice if you enjoy off-road driving. It's a side by tandem with the smallest footprint of any double buggy on the market. This allows it to fit through narrow doors and on public transport, and enables you to climb up and down kerbs without too much trouble. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.

Another option that is lightweight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double, which can be used for twins or a toddler and baby. The seats are multi-positional reclining with UPF 50plus sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted so that the sun doesn't get into your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can even be transformed into a triple with the addition of UPPAbaby's "PiggyBack board for older and mobile children.

The iCandy Orange double buggies are among the most well-known available. This is due to their outstanding comfort. It's an all-terrain pushchair with soft suspension to make smooth work of bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate a massive 30 seating configurations and comes with an integrated ride-on board that can be used for older children who prefer to walk, as well as a 'cinema' seating mode that raises the back of the seat to improve visibility.

The phil&teds dots are fantastic single buggys that can be easily adapted to take two (or three!) Different configurations are possible. This is especially useful if you have an infant in a car seat, as the frame can be equipped with a wedgie for optimum lying flat, or car seat adapters to many brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a double 3 wheel twin stroller wheel buggy will determine how easy your child/children and you can push it. Some models also have locking front wheels to help with maneuvering and getting over obstacles such as curbs.

Some models have tyres with air filled that are ideal for all-terrain riding, however they are prone to punctures. Be sure to keep an extra set of tyres inside the trunk. Other models use gel or foam tyres, designed to take the bumps and are less susceptible to punctures, however, you may find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable on your child's back should you decide to run.

MFM reviewer Kath test-driven the Urban Glide 2 with her three-year-old and newborn, and found it to be extremely capable on terrain that is difficult to navigate. "It glided effortlessly over sidewalks and grass, cobbles, and dirt tracks and was easy for me to navigate around corners and climb up and down kerbs." It's even very pleasant to jog with the 16" rear wheels and lockable swivel front wheel providing a safe jogging experience." The Urban Glide 2 has a lot of features, such as an enormous seat unit that comes with padded cover and hood that offers 50+ UV protection, and rechargeable and easy-to use visibility lights.

Folding

There are models that fold flat and stand up (as if they're in a pushchair position) as well as those that pop open to reveal more of an umbrella-like fold that has a hand-operated brake. In general the more wheels a buggy comes with the more able it will be to maneuver over rough terrain. This is particularly applicable when the wheels are bigger than the average. This will give you more stability and reduce the chance that your children will tip or flip over.

It's a comfortable and light-feeling model, which makes it easy to push and is packed full of extra features including raincover and a bumper bar.

The phil&teds sports is another option. It is a future-proof model as it is brilliant as a buggy, and can be modified to take two (or three!) within its compact footprint. It is a clever three-wheel design with a sling for greater maneuverability and stability.

If you're looking to run with your kids this is the ideal double buggies for jogging as it has a lockable front wheel that helps you stay in control when you're tackling off-road or hilly tracks. It also comes with a large undercarriage basket, an adjustable handlebar, and a soft suspension to ensure comfortable riding.

This is a very lightweight and compact model that folds in one hand and is perfect for traveling. It's compatible with a variety of infant car seats, and comes with a handy undercarriage basket to store shopping. It's a bit on the expensive side but does have a few notable features that make it a great option for value, such as its easy one-click fold and numerous extras like a bumper bar and raincover.

Stores

Many are awed by the storage capacity of the triple wheeled double buggy. Some models, such as the Roma Atlas, have a large basket and two zip pockets on the hood that you can keep your phone and keys. It's also designed for dealing with slightly rough terrain making it a great choice for family walks or all-terrain strolls.

Other models, like the UPPAbaby Vista 2, offer plenty of space and possibility of transporting twins or two toddlers and a child. (This is made possible by their 'PiggyBack' board). It's the slimmest side-by-side double in the market and it comes with some amazing technology that includes game-changing LED visibility lights on each side of the frame to ensure safety in dim lighting conditions.

For something a little different, the Joie Evalite Duo is a lightweight buggy that can accommodate twins from birth (it's facing the world and can be used in an upright position). Its clever frame expands to allow for an additional seat, yet it weighs just 11kg. This makes it easy to lift and move. It can be used with an infant car seat, a carrycot or both. This allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds.
