WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the Item Level Upgrade will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item upgrader mod, but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For instance, upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. It's Best item upgrader to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
