World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses like crit chance and PvE damage.

If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will be able to gain an additional 3% of the previous damage for every time it's upgraded.

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases as the item's level rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before the component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is applied (for examplefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions of the item using less upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack attributes of a weapon or armor. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear even in the event that they don't know what can be improved upon an update.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be costly and there is a substantial chance that the item upgrader kit could become obsolete or even break if it fails. A failed upgrade will cause the destruction of the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Glyphs

It is commonplace to see in the final game that placing Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes more quickly.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a stat by. The value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph of the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385. Each level of an item requires a different amount of components to reach, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets advanced in level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be able to claim your upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When an item is upgraded by a player it is replaced with a different item of the same kind. The same armor will be upgraded to an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This could be a drawback because it can make the item upgrader kit more expensive if you don't need it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough tokens in order to do so. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will come with an initial level and a completely different set of bonus bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, however it's not something that should be repeated often, as it could waste lots of resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allowing the player to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants buffs when the player repeatedly enters or exits water. This item can be upgraded many times, increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable gear--armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear which can have eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it is at risk of failing. The rate of failure increases as you go over the maximum number. If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally, the item will lose any bonuses it gained such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest.
