The Band Toto Asia

Toto was expanding production facilities overseas, and was doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. Toto saw North America as a growth market for Washlet bidets and toilets, as opposed to its "base" markets of Japan and China.

After Toto IV the band's fortunes began to decline. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career and the band went through numerous drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the group due to drug charges. The band remained with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.

Despite the turbulence, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation that was not as successful as IV. The band managed to release an album that topped the charts, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album it was an ode to the classic sextet format, and a more consistent, stronger effort that had a more grittier edge. Its edgier sound reflected the maturation of the group and included drummer Bobby Kimball's greater proficiency on the drums, as well as a more confident, mature vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. Keyboardist David Paich's work was sharper, more intricate, and less derivative than previously recorded recordings.

After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live show in Amsterdam which was released as a two-CD set called Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. A new studio album was released just a few months later and the group went on a world-wide tour to promote it. In this time keyboardist Greg Phillinganes filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate left the group to spend more time with his family.

In 1998, Paich and Lukather started searching through old demo tapes and tapes to make a new record featuring songs that were never recorded before. By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity.
