Psychiatrists - Find a Private Psychiatrist in Surrey

Psychiatrists are doctors who specialize in mental health. Psychiatrists can help with many illnesses, such as anxiety and depression. They can also help with the adverse effects of chemotherapy, such as fatigue and changes in thinking.

Dr Saad Al-Khalaf

Dr Saad Al-Khalaf is a highly experienced consultant general psychiatrist who is based in Guildford, Surrey. He also covers areas of Hampshire and London. He is an expert in treating chronic mental illnesses and older adult mental health. He has a special interest in organic psychiatry, anxiety and depression (particularly treatment-resistant depression) and memory impairment such as dementia. He also has a strong interest in the assessment of mental capacity.

He was ordained as a medical doctor in 1971. He then underwent general medicine training before undertaking special psychiatry courses at St Charles, St George and the Maudsley hospitals in London. Dr. Jennifer Laidlaw

Jennifer Laidlaw completed her MD at the University of British Columbia (UBC) prior to she completed her residency in Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. During her residency she was actively involved in medical education. She has presented at international conferences and published on the topics of screening for delirium as well as social media and professionalism. She began her career at Surrey Memorial Hospital as the Head Consultation Liaison (CL), psychiatrist. Her primary focus was developing a vibrant, highly collaborative CL service that provided psychotherapy to patients in the medical and surgical units including the Palliative Care and oncology Units. She also was awarded a Facilities Engagement grant to create guidelines for management of vulnerable patients in hospitals.

She is the Provincial Practice Leader for Psychiatry at BC Cancer, Clinical Associate Professor at UBC and Past-President of the BC Psychiatric Association. She is an assistant professor at Tufts University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and adjunct faculty in the UM PM&R & Family Medicine residency programs. She has been interested for a long time in musculoskeletal education and research. She currently teaches Neuromuscular and musculoskeletal medicine to the Family Medicine residents and has ongoing research projects related to musculoskeletal health electrodiagnostic medicine, and performing arts medicine.

Dr. Pulkit Sing completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales before finishing her Psychiatry Residency at the University of British Columbia. During her training, she received the Psychotherapy Award and an Undergraduate Teaching Award to recognize her accomplishments in these areas. She has worked in a variety of Psychiatry areas and has a particular interest in Cardiac Psychiatry.

Dr. Nadeesha Fernando is a psychiatrist who treats people of all ages BC Cancer. She has a keen interest in psycho-oncology and is a fan of working with older adults. She has been interested for a long time in geriatric psychiatry. She has been a consultant for the Geriatric Psychiatry Consult Liaison Service and ECT service at Vancouver General Hospital. She is an educator and mentor for medical residents and students.

Dr Theresa Lo

Dr. Theresa Lo completed medical school and psychiatry residency at the University of British Columbia. She has worked at the BC Cancer Agency, Surrey Mental Health and UBC Sleep Disorders Centre. She has a clinical practice that includes dialectical behaviour therapy and psychodynamic psychology. She is fluently able to speak Cantonese.

Dr Karim is an active member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and was trained at Guy's King's St Thomas', St George's and St George's Hospitals in London. She is on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council and has been practising psychiatry for over 20 years. She is interested in psychotherapy for children and adolescents.

Dr. Richford began her career as a nurse and then she went on to study medicine at Dalhousie. She received her MD in the year 1996. She has worked in many Psychiatry areas, including Addiction Psychiatry, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Psycho-oncology and many more. She is a psychiatrist on staff for Providence Health Care, Vancouver General Hospital and BC Cancer Vancouver as well as a Clinical Associate Professor at UBC. She is also a past-president of the British Columbia Psychiatric Association.

Dr Margaret Wong

Dr Margaret Wong is a renowned medical expert who is committed to advancing healthcare services. She regularly attends medical conferences and workshops in order to stay abreast of most recent developments in medicine. She also conducts research studies and publishes the results to contribute to medical knowledge. In addition she is a committed community member and philanthropist.

She graduated from ROSS UNIV/SCHOOL of MEDICINE AND VETERINARY METHODS. She has a high rating with patients. She is a board member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the Association of Physicians and Surgeons of Ohio and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a judge on the Eighth Judicial District Court as well as the Federal Sixth Circuit Court.
