WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade increases item upgrader mod level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and accessories. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current item level Upgrade level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island Item Level Upgrade and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade items discount and Item Level Upgrade a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items are from another set of equipment.

Crests

Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
