Shoppers who love this self-emptying robot vacuum claim it's powerful enough to tackle pet hair, dirt, dust and more on all floor types. It features a three-stage clean system and can be controlled with a smart speaker or a mobile app.

This upgrade to the standard robot vacuum may be worth it for those who can afford it. It comes with a large bin that only needs to empty it once every 30-60 days.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO comes with two multi-surface brushes made of rubber. It is designed to remove all kinds of debris off floor surfaces that are not paved. It works well on hard floors, and is great at sweeping up dust and larger particles. However, it is unable to deal with pet hair. It also tends to blow particles such as kosher salt or kitty litter out of its path and require another pass to pick up.

This robot performed very well on carpet and hard floors during our tests. Its mapping system for smart is better than most other systems, as it can store multiple maps and support a variety functions, including a customized and scheduled cleaning. It does not allow you to create Keep-Out Zones or clean specific rooms, which is important when your home is on more than one floor. It's a powerful, whole-home cleaner with incredible suction and intelligent features.

The Shark Matrix has a self-emptying base station that automatically empty after every clean, eliminating the hassle of manually changing out the bag. Like all Shark robots that are available, the Matrix can be programmed to run according to a set schedule or remotely activated using voice commands for hands-free convenience. It also has cliff sensors to avoid falling off the stairs, and optical encoders to measure the extent to which it has been cleaned.

The Matrix is a great option for anyone searching for a mid-range robotic vacuum. It might not have the sophisticated vSLAM mapping of the Roomba S9 but it still provides plenty. Its cleaning path is efficient on carpeted surfaces, and it can pick dirt from all surfaces. It also has a more powerful cleaning head than the S9 and a self-cleaning brushroll that is ideal for hair of pets.

Shark's app is extremely slow and insecure when used alongside the robot. The iRobot HOME app, on the other hand is a lot more intuitive and reliable.

This Roomba model doesn't come with top-mounted cameras that are able to recognize objects or look for unique features to remember, like other more expensive siblings do. Instead, it employs downward-facing optical sensors to see obstacles as they come up and then creates an outline of your floor plan while it goes through cleaning cycles and is attentive to internal sensors like wheel odometers and gyroscopes. iRobot’s Genius update, which brings smart mapping to the robot without increasing its cost and lets you control it via the iRobot app or your voice assistant to clean certain areas.

If this Roomba is full of dirt--and it is triggered to do this by the app or by its docking station itself--it returns to its home base and empties its internal dustbin into the larger external one. The docking station communicates with the robot vacuum with bagless self empty through beacons, ensuring that they are within close proximity before it starts cleaning.

It's a quick, easy method to empty the robot vacuum's bin. It's not necessary to lift the bin and let it move around (which could result in small dust explosions). This top-rated model comes with a small operating cost. You'll need to purchase another bag every time your old one gets full and, while they're not expensive however, you'll be resentful about throwing them to the trash.
