What is a Hob?

Hob is a protein that is involved in regulating exocytosis. It has been found that it regulates insulin-producing Drosophila cells. It is a part of the secretory apparatus, and is required to function properly in secretory cells.

In the British kitchen, a stove is akin to the cooktop. Nigella often suggests placing a pot "on the hob." The word is used in the same way in North America.
