The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the rivals. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.
