In case you missed it...

Blink 182's or ex-Blink 182's Tom Delonge... or was he Boxcar Racer... no no it's definitely Angels & Airwaves. Anyways, Tom fancies himself a bit of a UFO tin-foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist according this Paper Mag website But don't let my sarcasm confuse you, I'm down with Tom. I've been a fan for many years, apparently this is not the first time he has spoken about his interest in UFO's but to be honest, since Angel's and Airwaves, I really hadn't been paying attention. Tom, you have my attention now.

So let's talk about some of the ramifications that interviews like these have. For someone like Tom, it probably isn't going to destroy his impressive career like it could if he was say.... A doctor? Or psychologist perhaps. Even 5 years ago this sort of thing would have been laughed at, ridiculed and dismissed but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, does it? Sure there is a percentage of society that will still have that reaction, but they are now the minority. Now a days most people know of one or two conspiracy theories and most people are well aware of government spying and secrecy. Thanks to popular movies like "Captain America: Winter Soldier" and "Interstellar", Project Paperclip website (the US program of recruiting Nazi scientists) is now common knowledge. This paper mag interview is going to help a lot of young people play catch up and hopefully spark their interest in the subject or other fringe subjects because there's a massive universe out there on the horizon of your smartphone and curiosity leads to knowledge.

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." -Albert Einstein

The interview also has had great timing, seeing how Tom is currently in the public mind after the online debacle between the Blink-182 band website like a jab and a punch, we're just looking around asking who punched us? Life in the universe? To quote The X-Files, do "I want to believe"? Tom says you should believe,

"People will be like "Oh, you believe in UFOs" [laughs], but I'm reading books on physics, I'm reading books on the secret space program, I'm talking to people that work underground for six months at a time, that are confiding in me about the national security initiatives. I've literally read 200 books on the subject, and I don't spend my time looking at UFO reports or talking to little green men. I'm way past that. If anybody tells you there's no life in universe, you should be turned off. That's just such a dumb thing to say. It's totally, universally accepted amongst the country's elite scientific establishments that there's life everywhere. The question is what kind, where, how'd they get here, what are they doing when they get here, and how do we communicate with them?"

If you're interested in looking into the UFO phenomenon but don't know where to start, The Citizen Hearing on Disclosure website will do just fine. From April 29 to May 2013, researchers, activists and military/agency/political witnesses from ten different countries gave Congressional testimonies under oath. As for Tom and his band Angel's and Airwaves, check out their latest track The Wolfpack website from the album The Dream Walker. It's a pretty cool track, Tom's voice has a certain nostalgia to it for my generation and although A & A is more melodic and grooving compared to past projects, http://ufo.deals Tom's songwriting skills have always been solid and it makes for a good listening experience.
