How to Upgrade Items in Pokemon GO

The Upgrade is one the most important features in Pokemon GO. It allows trainers to evolve Porygon2 into Porygon and advance in their Pokedex.

While this item is quite uncommon, players can get it by spinning a photo disc at a Pokestop, or as a reward for special occasions. What is this item used for?

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into weapons, trinkets, or gathering tools to give an additional bonus or effect while the item is being used. They are a crucial component in the crafting process and can be gathered by salvaging or buying from vendors. They can also be found as drops in the game dropped by enemies or gathered from spheres of items. They can be used to upgrade armor or weapons through an upgrade slot.

To achieve the highest amount of progress in the game, it is crucial to utilize upgrade components to gain the most experience gained when upgrading weapons and equipment. Adding organic components to an upgraded item will increase the experience multiplier, while mechanical components will reduce it. The best combination is a high experience-multiplier organic component followed by a low-experience-multiplier mechanical component. This will enhance the experience you gain and make it easier to reach the next level.

The upgrade process is complicated, and it's important to understand how it operates to maximize the benefits of your upgrades. The system works by keeping an ongoing total of experience for the item you're upgrading. Each component has an multiplier of experience that can be negative or positive.
