Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting its stats base or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Items that have weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or additional impact when the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain point before they are upgraded.

In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player must select it, and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar.
