On Thursday 2nd of May 1963, the Abertillery Liberal Club (Central Club) played a combined team, the pick-of-the-league team from the Rhymney Valley Snooker League, played at Ystrad Mynach. On Friday 1st of March 1963, the South Wales Gazette reported on the successes of the first and second teams at the Liberal Club within the Rhymney Valley and Sirhowy Snooker Leagues. On Friday 1st of May 1931, the South Wales Gazette reported on a successful past season for the Preece’s Billiard Hall, Abertillery. However, many of the above would not be recognised as sports by fans of more traditionally-recognised sports, and using Wittgenstein's "extension" approach it would be quite reasonable to claim a "battle of the bands" competition as a sporting event and thus playing rock and roll as a sport, a definition which makes "sport" so broad as to be potentially useless and quite different to the common understanding, fuzzy though that may be. But believe me she owed me much more than a penny.

My Great Grandfather JAMES BROWN from Edinburgh was a Melodeon Player/Recording Artist from 1909 until his death in 1919. Do you know where I might obtain original recordings of his playing?

I can remember going down with my parents to a house on the crossroads to see them and my Grandmother and he was a stocky gentleman (pretty like myself) and I understood he used to be the Village Postman and also the Village Barber and he was a great supporter of the Working Men’s Club - hence this is where he used to play his instruments and have a singsong - he enjoyed a singsong and he enjoyed his cricket - which they all did and used to sing and play an instrument. We had some great fun. I say into the cab, but I soon became doubtful as to whether it was not a carriage in which I found myself. It does say 30 somewhere, did you say? Oh, well, yes it must be. I wouldn’t have thought that but I mean it must be.. Most of the things that are going he did have something to do with most of them.
