UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes, the handles on your doors will wear down and will require replacement. When replacing them, it is important that the new handles match the exact dimensions of the old handle.

The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw position, lever and key hole sizes. Refer to the size guide for assistance with this.

A lever handle is a modern door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This type door handle is offered in a variety of styles & finishes. This handle is offered by a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are ideal for doors with multi-point locks that require a strong design. The handles are inline and work with the same spindle as well as screw fixings. They can be easily incorporated into existing or new replace upvc window handle/Composite doors.

The spring lever design allows the handle to be positioned and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200 000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance is maintained over time. The lever that springs is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further away from the door. A lever that is shorter is an ideal choice for doors that have latches that can be operated by a thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently from lever-type handles found on most doors. These handle types can either operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC double glazed doors and are available in a variety of variations and finishes.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including White, Chrome and Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with the spindle and screws, allowing them to be fitted on a new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is usually an advantage when replacing a damaged or old multi-point sliding door handles lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of handles that slide out of their horizontal position when not in use.

When choosing a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is also called the handle centre or 'cylinder centres which is a crucial aspect of matching up the appropriate handles.

When you have the right PZ size, you'll be required to make sure that the lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you require for your doors. These are usually round or square with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC lever pads we sell are sprung, meaning that they return to their horizontal position when they are not in use, rather than hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from entering a property. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed versions, allowing them to be installed on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are usually found on uPVC doors, but can also be used on other types of doors. They work by using a key to unlock a cylinder case which then reveals pins which can be aligned with the pins in the lock body and allow them to rotate an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins, with internal and external doors usually having different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is crucial; it depends on how your doors and window handle upvc are used. For instance, doors that are external should be fitted with a more secure cylinder while doors inside can be secured with the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features that can improve security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured correctly to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place however, in the event that this is not possible, you can remove it to measure. It is essential to not have a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it susceptible to lock snapping attacks.

Most newer cylinders have been made with bump and anti-drill features that are built into their design. These features are designed to minimize the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This will help to deflect an attack and protect your door.

There are also cylinders that have been made to resist snapping. This is a more frequent type of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is smashed using a special tool to break the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is a lot faster and more straightforward than gaining access through a multipoint lock and leaves little evidence of a burglary, which can impede an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located inside the base of your door handle's backplate providing a sprung solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their original position after use. In the past, a lot of handles of this kind did not have a spring integrated into them and without this they can droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism is removed. This simple part is the best way to solve this issue. It also helps prevent your door from becoming stuck in the open or closed position as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specially designed for use with multipoint locks that are sprung but they won't work with non-sprung multipoint handles. You must have a bespoke hole cut into your backplate in order for them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes are a replacement door handles to broken or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are fitted with a square cut-out that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and they are supplied individually.

These spring cassettes are a great cost-effective way to fix the problem of handles on your doors sliding door handles.
