Treatment For ADHD

The most effective treatments for adding are medication and psychosocial therapy (psychotherapy). The medications can include stimulants such as amphetamine and methylphenidate, and non-stimulants such as atomoxetine, viloxazine, guanfacine, and clonidine.

Patients with active issues with addiction should not take stimulant medications. However, those in stable remission can look into them. Combination therapy using antidepressants especially SSRIs, is a different option.

Stimulants

Stimulants boost the levels of dopamine and norepinephrine in brain synapses. This improves focus and reduces impulses and hyperactivity.
